Promoting carp fishing amongst juniors is something we at Kodex really care about. The younger mind is more easily able to learn new skills, so there's no better time to learn the art of carp fishing - a hobby that will likely become a passion throughout your adult life. Fishing also provides an opportunity for youngsters to enjoy the outdoors, appreciate nature and gain life skills that you simply won't learn by staring at a phone or playing on an Xbox. Additionally, if our passion for carp fishing isn't passed on from generation to generation, it's possible that it could gradually become forgotten knowledge - and just the thought of that possibility is upsetting. Kodex are therefore active in encouraging junior angling and, as part of this, we have now instigated Team Kodex Juniors - a group of anglers below the age of 18, who are sponsored and have the opportunity to develop and join the Team Kodex proper when they become an adult.
The first three signings to the new Team Kodex Juniors are Lucas Burton, Louis Matthews and Vincent Palmer.
Nine-year-old Lucas Burton is from Worksop. For such a young angler, Lucas is very capable, and his current PB stands at an impressive 27lbs. Fifteen-year-old Louis Matthews is from Banbury in Oxfordshire, and he is already proving his carp angling prowess at a range of venues across the South East of England. Hailing from Corringham in Essex is sixteen-year-old Vincent Palmer, a very accomplished young angler who has caught numerous big carp and catfish at his local venues. We look forward to working with all of them for many years to come.
There will be a host of additional signings, too. If your son/daughter enjoys carp fishing and you would like to request their consideration for the junior team, please email the co-ordinator Mike Salisbury with relevant information and some catch pictures - firstname.lastname@example.org.
